Meet Our Team

Yyvette McKenzie
President

Yyvette McKenzie is the President and a proud Disabled Combat Army Veteran with over 28 years of distinguished military and federal civilian service. She holds an MBA in Organizational Psychology and Leadership Development, as well as a Master’s in Information Technology with a focus on Project Management. In addition to her impressive military background, Yvette has over 30 years of experience as a nurse and has served as a training officer and developer. She oversees all operations with a commitment to excellence and leadership. In 2024, she was honored as a Ford Oval of Honor recipient, recognizing her contributions to her community.

Sonya Davenport
Vice President

Sonya Davenport serves as the Office Director and Head of Youth Services, where she uses art therapy to support military and veteran children in coping with the unique challenges of military family life. Her compassionate approach allows these young individuals to express themselves and manage the issues they face. Beyond her youth services work, Sonya also manages the Giving Grace Farm and oversees the Food Pantry delivery services, ensuring critical resources reach those in need. Her leadership is driven by a deep commitment to both community well-being and the support of military families. Additionally, Sonya continually seeks ways to expand these services.

Tina Welch
Treasurer

 As a City-appointed official in Canal Winchester, Ohio, Tina Welch has over 15 years of experience as a Project Manager specializing in Government Financial Management. She is responsible for overseeing the city’s finances, ensuring the proper allocation and management of federal and local funds. Her role requires a strategic approach to budgeting, compliance, and fiscal accountability, ensuring that all resources are maximized to benefit the community. She is committed to enhancing the city’s financial stability and supporting initiatives that drive long-term growth and development while maintaining transparency in all fiscal operations.

Tammy Davenport
Secretary

With over 32 years of experience in the IT industry, Tammy serves as the Director and IT Data Center Manager, leading complex operations with a focus on efficiency and innovation. She holds certifications in CompTIA A+ Networking, Cisco CCNA, CAPM, and AWS, which provide her with a robust technical foundation to navigate the ever-evolving IT landscape. In addition to managing IT operations, Tammy also oversees Human Resources and Record Management, ensuring seamless organizational processes and the effective management of key personnel. Her leadership and technical expertise drive success across her department.

Sara Rollins Fundraising Manager

Sara Rollins serves as the Fundraising Manager and has been a dedicated community organizer with the Newell Area Civic Council for over 15 years. With strong management skills in customer service and sales, Sara plays a pivotal role in fostering partnerships with our corporate partners and sponsors to ensure the success of initiatives supporting military and veteran families. She works directly with both local partners and national corporations, securing essential funding and resources that align with the organization’s vision and mission. Her innovative problem-solving skills further enhance her ability to drive meaningful results for the causes she supports.
